Amazing considering they both played for years under Ferguson. Solskjaer could join them if he lasts that long.

Was reading on the bbc that this is his 11th job and he has resigned from 7 of the previous 10.

He has also now managed :
Sheff Utd AND Sheff Wednesday
Birmingham AND Villa
Sunderland AND Newcastle

I would think that a lot of up and coming managers wouldn't have wanted their careers tarnished by that car crash of a club.

Re: Steve Bruce confirmed as barcodes manager
Just know they'll end up with a smash and grab 1-0 win at our place after we should have scored 15 goals

If you were Newcastle you'd be planning for the 21-22 championship season, offloading the high earners in the next 3 transfer windows and praying you don't set the record low points total for relegation this season.

Stepney, i thought i read somewhere that we pay Pellers £7m. Who knows? either way £8m is much higher than a considerable number of managers of clubs who have finished above Newcastle in the last two seasons.

We pay Pellegrini 10m a year. Pretty sure I read at the time we appointed him that only Mourinho (then at Man Utd) and Pep got paid more in the PL.

Re: Steve Bruce confirmed as barcodes manager
It's hard to believe there are no better up and coming managers in the lower divisions that would be a better fit than Bruce.

Im sure there are but why would any up and coming manager would take that Job and almost certainly have no hope of succeeding in a truly toxic environment with no squad or funds?

There's a reason they had to go to number 11 on their list.

The upshot was that it's a stone cold fact that Ashley has put more of his own money into Newcastle than Sullivan and Gold have put into West Ham AND he's never charged Newcastle a penny in interest on his loans. S&G used to charge 7% and after the uproar generated when the fans found out about it put it down to 4 or 5%.

Cornish, really? Did you watch the interview?

Re: Steve Bruce confirmed as barcodes manager
It seems like Ashley went big with Benitez, afterall he was paying him £8m per season which is massive and beyond even what we are paying El Pel, that didnt work out and the supporters still hated him and everything he did so he'd now just decided 'fuck em' i'll give you what i think you deserve. And save myself a few quid each yr in the process. The only thing that amazes me is that its not us.

Well, i suppose the hypothetical question we need to answer is: 'Would we prefer Mike Ashley or the Daves to be our owners?'

I'm not sure. In various ways I think they are probably both as bad as each other.

Re: Steve Bruce confirmed as barcodes manager
The interview going around on here with the football finances expert said that Ashley has actually put more more money into Newcastle than the Dave's have into West Ham and he also has never charged the club interest on his personal loans like the Dave's have.

From a purely financial perspective he's actually a better owner than ours.

Think about that for a minute.

The report I read implied he was first on their shortlist.

Their SECOND shortlist, after all ten on their first shortlist turned them down.

11th on their 'shortlist' apparently.

That's a pretty long shortlist.
